An Easy Bolognese Sauce Recipe

Here's another pasta recipe.  Last one for a while, I promise (or at least I hope).

I this sauce.... I don't think anyone doesn't. It doesn't need any more introduction so without any further ado here's my recipe (which believe me has been tried and tested).

Ingredients:
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 - 3 cloves garlic, minced
1 carrot, finely diced
1 celery stalk, finely diced
1 lb ground beef
2 cans whole plum tomatoes
1 tablespoon tomato paste
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
Salt and pepper to taste

Method:
1. Heat olive oil in medium sauce pan over a medium flame
2. Add chopped onion. Cook until translucent, stirring to make sure it doesn't burn.
3. Add the garlic and continue stirring for a couple of minutes.
4. Add the carrot and celery. Saute for about 4 - 5 minutes (keep an eye on the pan making sure nothing gets burnt).
5. Add the beef and cook until browned
6. Add the tomatoes and tomato paste
7. Season with salt and pepper.
8. Add the Italian seasoning.
9. Cover and let cook on a low heat for about 10 minutes to allow all the ingredients to mix
10. In the meantime, cook your pasta until al-dente and when its done serve with the sauce
11. Serve with freshly grated parmesan cheese

This sauce freezes pretty well so feel free to make it in bulk.

  2. Yeah! I like to use half olio and half butter. Also, generic crushed or whole tomatoes work fine ;-)
